During her childhood, Reyna and her father were always on the run, hiding in various places across the nation. Unknown to Reyna, it was due to her father's work at the New Hope Research Facility and for evading justice when failing to appear in court. Torres and Reyna were on the lam from the Coalition of Ordered Governments. However, Torres feared his own daughter would become another test subject and thus escaped the facility with Reyna, bringing with him Myrrah's amulet.ĭr. Upon initial studies, it was revealed that Reyna inherited her mother's genetic immunity, decelerated aging, and links to the Locust Hivemind. Torres, who then conceived Reyna, also known as Subject TE-872-3. She then began a romantic relationship with geneticist Dr. Myrrah was able to communicate with and control all those connected. It was discovered that all members of the Locust Horde shared a psychomagnetic link known as the Hivemind.
In the facility prior to Reyna's conception, Niles Samson used the embryonic stem-cells of Myrrah and combined them with the DNA of Sires to create the first hybrid which gave birth to the Locust Horde. Niles and his work were recovered by a fringe political party within the Coalition and relocated to a facility in Mount Kadar. However, the experiments at New Hope were discovered by the Coalition of Ordered Governments and the facility was shut down. Reyna's mother, Myrrah, was brought to the facility as a child due to her genetic immunity to Imulsion, resistant immune system, and decelerated aging. Niles Samson was conducting at the New Hope Research Facility in order to find a cure for Rustlung by mutating the sick children of Imulsion miners with the DNA indigenous creatures of the Hollow, creating aggressive, unstable, and sterile mutants called Sires. The facility was an extension of the genetic research Dr. Reyna was born in an underground facility of Mount Kadar to Myrrah and Dr. Though she was successful in denying the humans the Hammer of Dawn, her siege was loss for the Swarm. Following her ascension, Queen Reyna led a siege on New Ephyra. Queen Reyna, now possessed by her mother, leads the Swarm to finish what the Locust started, by annihilating the human race in order to claim Sera as their own. However, the Swarm managed to reconnect her body to the Hive and was brought back to life. Kait disconnected Reyna from the Hive and supposedly killed her. Having no intentions of becoming the Swarm Queen, Reyna pleaded with Kait to end her life. Although there was an attempt to rescue her, Reyna had been connected in a way that removing her from the Hive would be fatal. When the Locust reemerged as the Swarm, Reyna was captured and forcefully integrated into the Swarm's Hive in order for Myrrah's consciousness to posses her body and become the new queen. Following her husband's death, she and Oscar Diaz led the Outsider village.
After the Locust War, she became part of the Outsider Movement along with her married family and built Fort Umson. Gabriel Diaz, became a sister-in-law to Sgt. Reyna lived through the Pendulum Wars and Locust War, though her father was murdered by Locust scientist Ukkon. Torres became disillusioned with their work due to the experiments on his own daughter, he fled the facility with Reyna and raised her on his own. She was born in the Mount Kadar Laboratory as an experiment, and had inherited Myrrah's immunity to Imulsion, decelerated aging, and psychomagnetic connection to the Locust Hivemind. She is the biological daughter of the Locust Queen Myrrah and geneticist Doctor Torres. Queen Reyna Diaz (née Torres) is the Queen of the Swarm during the Swarm Invasion and a former Chief of Fort Umson in the Outsider Movement. " We are what you could have been!
